OK, A couple of easy questions about setting up a P4 1.8a and 8IRXP

I am new with these processors. I have only built AMD systems for myself, so I have a question or two...

1. For overclocking, are you using the thermal tape on the bottom of the hsf or did you take it off and put some arctic silver on it? If you did the tape off, how did you do it?

2. Those of you that are o'clocking the snot out of this thing, what are your settings for your 1.8a?

I got the gigabyte 8IRXP and will put it together tomorrow night, so if you have any pointers for this new Pentium guy, please let me know. (No AMD vs. Pentium flames please).

Thanks for your help!

1) remove the black pad - use as2/3

2) 18x142fsb = 2556mhz / 1.85v (1.7v wire mod) / 4:5 memory ratio / 355mhz DDR / 2.7v ram / cas22251

Ok, so i remove the black pad ( does it come off very easy? Then clean it with alcohol I assume) . Now I know this sounds elementary, but remember, I am new to the P4. There is no "core" sticking up like on the Athlons, so do I cover the whole top of the chip with the as2? And I am assuming it is a thin layer like on the core of an Athlon, is that correct?

the black pad will not come off easily. a solvent will be needed.
use as2 on the entire p4 "heatplate", only a very thin layer is needed.
try to avoid getting as2 in the hole of the heatplate.
