According to ESPN he is. Wonder what some of you ATOTers think of that?

Their reasoning is, he only had 2 GREAT seasons, 5 good seasons and 6 so so ones. key stat, he only gained about 700 yds per season during those so-so seasons.

things they seemed to have left out, he played for a mediocre buffalo team AND he played his whole career during the 14 games seasons. should that make a DIFFERENCE? I think so, look how much more common 1000 yd rushers are now with the 16 game seasons than they used to be.

IF he had never killed (allegedly) his wife, there is NO way they would have put him in the top ten.

your link says joe namath is all time overrated...

dunno about OJ, but will 2 extra games really = 300 yards?
its not necessarily more game = more yards, due to fatigue, more chance of injury and such...

ya, i know, i guess i should have said he made the list. :)

he also had a 2000+ Season in 14 games. that's pretty phenomenal, he averaged over 6 yds per carry. how is he overrated?

I think he's somewhat overrated because I've heard people discuss him on the same level as a Walter Payton or Jim Brown, which he was not. I don't think he deserves a spot on that list, though.

Unlike most false claims, this is definitely what one would call Political Correctness. He's a murderer, thus he must have been "overhyped", a murderer certainly could not have accomplished anything!

by the way, all the nonsense about deion sanders is just LUDICROUS also. Deion was NOT selfish on the field and you can't BLAME The player because he got big contracts.

How is Darryl Strawberry overrated? As far as I'm concerned, he was a fluke and someone that deserves the death penalty for being a dumbass and a threat to himself and everyone around him.

Not really, don't care for Football either, it's just that this screems of rewriting of history to me. He was the man back then, perhaps he wasn't the greatest of all time or even during his career, but he was popular for some reason. I have nothing against him being called an embarrassment or liability to the Sport due to his personal actions, I just don't see any value in besmerching/downplaying his accomplishments because of it.

Exactly.

it pisses me off, because YOU know the writer was influenced because of the murder case. IF that had never happened, He wouldn't have DARED write about OJ like that.

sandy koufax "received votes"? you've got to be sh!tting me

I like how they also say that Soriano was also considered to be on that list. WTF? He's one of the better hitters in the game. ESPN articles are getting worse by the day.

I hate 90% of ESPN's baseball writers because of their obvious bias agianst the Yankees and Yankee players. I love they way they try to make a fvcking game into some more than it is by using some of the most obtuse statistics to write a an article that shows nothing.
