After all they are just politicians why should we expect anything else from them? When are people going to realize that the only difference between the two groups is the R or the D.

Peanut storage is an emergency?

Now, will the BDS people understand that you didn't vote for any real change? You simple voted for the other frat to be in charge of homecoming.

Politicians are lying thieves as a rule, whether they be Democrats, Republicans, Independents, Greens, Green Aliens, etc. Guilty until proven innocent in this case does apply.

Heh. The Iraqi war is no "emergency", either, but that's the way the Whitehouse wants to fund it, and has from the beginning. It's "off budget", helping their deficit numbers look better...

The attachments are an effort to get reluctant Dems to vote for it, particularly since it contains a provision that removes authorization for the Iraqi occupation as of Aug, 2008. If it succeeds, it's money well spent.

Nice hand waving and teeth gnashing over a lousy $20B, from the folks who put us deeper in the hole to the tune of more than $3T over six years...

Dems have a long, long way to go before they'll live up to the whining attribution of "They're just as bad!"... But repubs have to run what they brung, and it's a clunker...

Nice apology, well done. Just goes to show, people only care about pork spending when it isnt their side doing it.

So I guess politicians wasting our money isn't important to the BDS crowd?

I'd rather pay $20 billion for Democratic pork vs. $300+ billion (and counting) for Republican imperialism.

$20 billion for Democratic pork, and they have only been in office for a few weeks.....But go ahead, keep making excuses, its fun to watch you guys defend the Democrats for doing the same kind of crap that you demonized the Republicans for.

Wow, you guys were right, the Democrats are going to be so much better than Republicans...

Ouch!

That is quite an accomplishment considering IMC's trolling ability.

This is why I hate combo bills. Politicians create bills that members of the other party cannot reasonably vote against and then pack as much extra crap into them as possible. Its been going on for ages and its a ridiculous practice.

Nope, I say both parties suck. The Republicans have completely abandoned their conservative base and really fvcked up big time these last few years. But some here seem to think that the Democrats are going to come in and save the day, which is obviously not the case. They also seem to think that if the Democrats get a full majority that they will not go power crazy like the Republicans did.

Edit - After thinking about it for a minute, you're probably right, I, as well as most of the conservatives here have been guilty of defending a Republican action at one time or another with a similar argument, saying that the Democrats have done worse. Well, we were jumped on by these very same people for doing that, now they are doing exactly what they jumped on us about.

Notice the word bolded.

Bush did not have a valid reason to start the false war, whether anyone voted for it based on lies or not.

I mean, it's better than being so desperate to find something to bash the left about that you start a thread criticizing pork spending. This further confirms far right elements in the U.S. have neurological disorders. No one can be this dense this often. You do have like 7 threads in P&N, each of which are completely worthless. Almost as bad as Genx87 posts.

 for admitting that.

Both parties have their snouts as deeply in the slops trough as they can get away with.

The most I'm hoping for from Democrats are some checks and balances to replace the Republican collusion with a seemingly unending series of bad ideas from the Bush administration including torture, warrantless domestic spying, and incompetent nominees.

I enjoy watching you try to defend the Democrats that voted for this war.
