Oilrush final came out

right on their front page from that link it says the game is basically multiplayer tower defense. looks like nice graphics too, so yeah it looks like it might be cool. 6 hours though? i was never that big of a gamer, i play for about an hour of anything then i tend to either produce something or do absolutely nothing and watch tv
 
It is naval warfare strategy, i've never played or seen another game of the same kind.
Also it is multiplatform linux, windows, osx.
It's the most visually stunning game that can be played natively on linux right now, perhaps the most advanced opengl game out besides, possibly, rage.
 
The forum says you can't play multiplayer yet for linux because they are working on a API still for it. How are you doing it? 😛
 
There are tower defense elements to the game for sure

just you are defending your oil platforms and unit production rigs

I get 30-38fps on my llano at 1600x1200 high/med details no AA
the "ultra high" detail settings would be interesting to see

I like how you can press the F key and it's like you're watching a movie
you send your fleet to attack, then press F and you are basically birds eye view above one of the units ie: helicopter

each "quick game" takes me about 2-3hrs and there are 2 dozen or so of those
then there is the campaign which teaches you how to play by going on missions and walking you thru the menus and tactics.
 
It doesn't look like tower defense. It looks like GalCon but on the ocean instead of space. And with actual graphics. I might grab this just to play for short periods when I'm bored.
 
I've yet to try the multiplayer stuff
dozens of hours just playing the "quick games"

The game reminds me of the movie water world

also it has a 3d option for those 3d monitors I assume
