"Oil sucker"

My friend was telling me about a product that is basically a small hose that you stick in where your dipstick is, and basically you turn it on and it sucks your oil out..rather than you having to drain it. Anyone have any experience with this? Seems like a clean, efficient way to change your oil..

If it was that efficient Syringer, oil pans wouldn't have a drain plug, stick w/ the old tried and true way IMHO.

How are you going to change the oil filter?

How does that really have anything to do with the oil sump?

Bad idea either way...you're less likely to get out all the garbage at the bottom...

they sell something like this for boats. Kinda hard to reach the oil pan on an inboard or I/O boat motor.

DOH! My power flickered while I was typing my reply.

Um, you would unscrew it... and screw the new oil filter on.. just like if you had used the pan drain plug? 😛

I don't know though. I suppose it would be better than not changing the oil at all, but.. I question its ability to get all the baddies out. I mean.. the drain plug is at the bottom of the sump.. when you properly change your oil(read: change it while the engine is warm), it seems like more of the baddies would flow out naturally than you could suck out.

It look like Syringer doesn't want to get his hand dirty that why I ask the above question. There are such thing as gastation & lub services that do this kind of thing for people that don't want to get messy 😉
