Glad to see everyone thrilled that gas is now TWICE as much as you were paying a year ago . . . down from TRIPLE.

Turn to pages 'M' in the dictionary, look for 'manipulation'.

Looking at it from a leftist point of view, they won't be able to be happy and will consider everything to continue as "doom and gloom" until we can get a jackass in office. (literally)

But still lower than it should be considering inflation. The fact we as a nation have managed to keep the cost of gasoline from rising at the rate of inflation is amazing.

It may also explain the lack of an energy plan out of our federal govt.

Would rather have a jackass than a liar.

<----------- Vote for me and you'll have your jackass but no more doom and gloom :D

Baloney. I can buy 89 regular here for $1.99 per gallon. I don't recall gas at this time last year being only $0.98 per gallon. In fact, it has been many years since I remember gas being that cheap.

I know you like to look at the glass as half-empty, but come on...

OK, so Iowa is some kind of god like mecca in the U.S.

Goody for you that gas is $1.99 (still not cheap gas)

but it is still over $2.50 here. Price gouging still firmly in effect.

You had 1.25 gas a year ago? Minnesota has have 1.59-1.89 since about 2002. Right now we are sitting at ~2.19-2.29.

Hopefully the market will continue to fall for the people who were artificially propping oil prices up. Maybe they will get burned and never come back.

Dave, I don't see the gas price affecting the liberals with their $40,000 SUVs. See a constant slew of them with their Kerry bumper stickers flying by on the highway

It's easy to find gas for $2.09 around the metro area right now.

Oh wow. Oil is ONLY 58.20 a gallon.
And the second part of your post is just a flat out lie. According to the article the dollar is at a 2 year high against the EURO not other currencies and that is because of the French riots NOT because the U.S. dollar has gained any strength.
btw hows the deficit? The SS shortfall? The inflation rate? The stock market? The trillion dollar Medicare drug fund shortfall? The loss of good jobs to outsourcing?

I don't know who you are posting this but I respectfully submit you either are a FLAMER or possibly not very educated or smart or perhaps just a mindless believer of political propaganda put out by the Republicans/FoxNews.

Maybe I'm not understanding your comment, but inflation hasn't gone up 100% in the past year. Gas prices have far outpaced inflationary increases, unless "inflation" means something other than what I think it does.

Edit: 100% may be a little bit of a stretch, but I'd be VERY interested to see a graph of inflation and gas price increases. If they match up, I'd be extremely surprised.

If gas prices were raising at the rate of inflation like they should have been through the years. Then we would be paying north of 3 dollars and would have been doing it for years.

The fact our prices rose a large % over the past 12-18 months still doesnt negate the fact we are still paying less than we should have in considering inflation. Somehow we have managed to beat inflation with gasoline prices in this country for the past 30 years.
