So how did union work past test . To do said work . Knowing right equiment to use is part of certifacation . I was iron worker and many things one needs to know. These cerified platform works need to know much more . Hope the man who caused lives so he can explain why he used wrong torch . If he didn't know . Than he was wrongly certified and a man slaughter charge should be given to who ever certified that worker.

Yall all realize that sometimes "shit happens" and people just fuck up. No big conspiracy, no big rich asshole to blame, no huge multinational corporation, no global market, etc.... People sometimes just unintentionally fuck up for whatever reason, maybe he thought his wife was cheating on him and was distracted, maybe he just got news that she was pregnant and was excited, maybe he was tired, whatever.....

Sometimes stuff just isn't nearly as complicated as its made out to be.

Yeah how about a little fucking compassion for the people burned to death or nearly to death.

Sometimes you political hacks are an embarrassment to humanity.

Yes.

We can't do anything about it. If we fine them they will just increase the price of gas.

Got it? Just getting a jump on the Republican talking points.

I would think the Repubs would be rejoicing!

Seems like it was a preventable accident, feel bad for everyone involved. Two (presumed) dead and a few others with extensive burns (which the treatment for may be worse than death).

Hey what about the Companies they work for?

They get billions in extra profits raising prices for these "accidents".

That's OK though eh?

I think it's a matter to some degree supply and demand, and no it's not ok for companies to use these events as profit triggers. But I'm more concerned with loss of life.

Still buy into that stale old Kool Aid eh?

Guess you haven't noticed that Gasoline is the number one export of the United States and also about to pass Saudia Arabia as the number one producer of oil?

to make a few thigns clear: Our oil is generaly harder and costlier to produce, and refine.
This is a production platform, not producing anyway.
The fire is not a result of a blow out like the macondo well, but of a guy and a torch. Fires happen in factorys everyday.

the profit margin for oil companies is super thin, just a huge number. not dave or anyone else could run a smaller company on 6 to 8%.

People shouldn't need to die just so we can drive fast. I feel for anyone who puts their life in danger to earn money, but maybe we need to take a bigger look at who we are. Did these people really need to get hurt/die or could it have been prevented by just being the intelligent and creative race that we are?

People die building wind turbines too. Its not like oil is the only industry that has deaths.
