oil pan slosh during high g acceleration during turning. oil-- high iron content

most recent analysis showed some pretty high iron counts. it's my first time running m1 ARE (0w20) and I'm trying to figure out why the iron...

I have two theories: one, the AFE is so thin that with my spirited driving and hard acceleration...

two, that the hard driving I'm doing on 180 and 270 degree turn ramps to highway is killing circulation/the sump thing that sucks from the pan can't get any oil.

?

I don't think some fast freeway ramps are enough to compromise the ability of the oil pump/pickup. It's sustained high-g driving that does that.

In short, you don't need a dry-sump for your econobox LOL

I highly doubt a Scion tC is capable of generating the g-forces necessary to create oil starvation, especially on the street.

My guess is what you are seeing is "Any Scion with more than 100,000 miles" wear.

If you're starving your car for oil on an on ramp you have other issues.... Especially in a car like that.

How many g's do you think you're pulling?

Better get one of these just to be sure.

To be clear, oil starvation is a real thing, but it really only affects extremely-high performance cars with extremely high performance tires (R-comps or slicks), in track conditions. And many of those cars will already have dry-sump oil delivery to avoid the issue.

There's folks who need baffled oil pans in the track-S2000 world, but they are pulling sustained 1.4G+ turns, which is nearly double what the tC can do.

So you're fine. Keep enjoying your car and those on-ramps. 🙂

every time around I try to take it 5mph faster than last time. I do this to find max speed on average, and to compare tires performance

So you must be up to like 200mph now? I think the tires performance is good enough, no?
Which bias ply tire are you testing?
