For those Ohioans out there... how do you feel about Issue 6?
Plans to bring a $600m+ resort casino to Clinton County, Ohio (in-between Columbus, Cincinnati, and Dayton), with 30% of revenue being split amongst the 88 counties, based on population.

While I am not all too happy with the location, I feel it's a great idea. I know MANY people who leave the state to nearby states to gamble, some even out of the country!
Detroit is a gambling haven for many people (and for Northwest Ohioans, will probably continue to be due to location - 1hr drive or close to 3 hours? Hmm tough choice!)...
But more tax given to the counties is a great idea, and simply... might as well.

All the opponents are just rambling on about gambling problems, yada yada... oh well. If people want to fuck up their lives, that's on them. Besides, it's not like gambling addicts are keeping inside the state, afraid of crossing the border. That, and with the lottery, and now keno across the state, they've already got their fix.

And one good thing about the location is that Clinton country is well... nothing. Low population, and on average an hour drive from the three nearest big cities if I'm guessing right.

Personally, I hope this is the first one approved, because it might get the state more welcome to another casino.

I want one to be built in Sandusky, Ohio. Right now that place is a shithole, and all it has going for it is Cedar Point. Well, that's great you say? The problem with Cedar Point is that tourism is only in the summer. In the spring and fall it's local people, and in the winter it brings nothing. Some businesses even close in the fall and don't open till spring, sometimes before the end of the official season.

I've read that Cedar Fair (owners of Cedar Point and quite a few parks across the country) are very interested in building a resort casino in Sandusky. Don't blame them, and would be a great idea, especially if again, Ohio forces a premium tax. (if the first Resort Casino is approved, it'll have 30% tax. another one approved, and both would likely have 25% as part of the stipulation). Regardless, I just want something else to draw people to Sandusky year-round, help build up a stable local economy, clean the city up some.

I used to live in ohio.

I think all the rust belt states should allow gambling because thats the only way to create jobs and revenue (without becoming smart). I'm sorry to say this but ohio sucks! it has no future.

I grew up in Ohio and lived there until 2000. I agree with the above.
