Technically I suppose received English is the "perfected English dialect" although it does kind of mean that you're a twat or a Lord if you use it (not that the two are mutually exclusive).

Accents are OK. It's the trash that goes with them that is the issue.

When someone has a Southern accent and lives in a shack, has 5 kids chasing a dog with a lit firework as one of the spouses is 1/2 naked passed out drunk on the lawn - the accent makes it even more of a horror show.

I have met plenty of people with Southern accents that are kind, curtious and intelligent.

A fair number of northeast Ohioans have an accent, particularly around the Cleveland and Akron areas. Its somewhat similar to what you'd consider the stereotypical "Chicago" or midwest/great lakes accent, and most usually from people of Hunky/eastern European heritage.
Massillon/Canton area here......
My Grandparents were Macedonian but I never heard them use the heavy dialect/accent.
