I thought I was on your side.

My bad deserves to be charged.

You have to ask ?

I never said he deserved to die.

Ohio man charge for filming crash victims instead of helping them.

His charge wasn't for filming them, it was for "vehicular trespass"...
Paul Pelton, 41, was charged with vehicular trespass after he opened a back door and leaned into the vehicle to capture video on his cellphone just after the Monday accident in Lorain, 30 miles west of Cleveland, the Lorain Police Department said....

Pelton committed a crime only when he entered the car without permission, Sivert said. If convicted, he faces a maximum of 30 days in jail and a $250 fine.

Had he stayed out of the vehicle for his filming, it doesn't appear that there would have been a charge.

Kids were dumbasses, there should be no obligation for a person to help them. The only crime he apparently committed was by entering a crime scene. If the kid surviving is the driver, hopefully he'll be charged too.

Yea, I'm sure you went through your teenage year never doing anything stupid, douchebag watched someone die rather than help because it would have fucked-up his "snuff" vid. Your a pathetic fuckwad and a total asshole.

Thread title fail. He's being charged for trespassing, not for filming an accident. Nobody is forced to help accident victims.

And apparently everyone skipped the rest of the thread too. Thread title was explained :p

Guy was in the wrong. Maybe not illegal, but still a piece of work, not any better than the kids he was making fun of.

I never killed anyone/associated with anyone that almost got me killed, so there's that.

There are clearly moral questions (to society), when people are commonly filming (with their mobile devices), horrible accidents and stuff like that.

But in this case, he is accused of actually opening the crashed vehicle and shouting horrible stuff at the victims, while filming (on his mobile phone) it all. One of the victims dies a bit later, and the other is probably badly hurt.

He later tried to sell the video(s) to at least two news agencies. Fortunately they declined (I believe).

He did absolutely NOTHING to help them. (As far as I can tell).

Clearly there are questions about how society should be handling individuals like this, and are the existing laws, powerful enough to handle modern circumstances ?

If he ends up getting a small fine for this, I will NOT be too impressed. But the current laws seem relatively unable to handle situations like this.

If Ohio's a right to work state, maybe someone can be present to video tape him and call him an idiot while his boss is firing him. :)
It is.
Also, his 30 days in jail would be reason enough to fire him.
(unless he can do it on weekends or on vacation)

How is that the same as what this guy did? I know you read the article, did you digest the whole thing?

You're not too bright, are ya?

I said nobody is forced to help, and dumbshit up there told me I was apathetic. I'm simply advocating that he not be apathetic as well, and should do everything humanly possible to save everybody in the next burning building he hears about. To not do so would be apathetic.

If he would have filmed without touching the vehicle, he would be fine. But he opened the door without consent of the individuals to take a look around.

If someone just opened the door of your automobile to film and take a look around without your consent, its called trespassing.
