Same thing here in Rochester (NY). I'm going on Friday to the regular theater to see it, then if I like I may go back Saturday night to see it on the IMAX. They had Fellowship of the Ring playing there for a couple of weeks, but I never had a chance to go so I guess I missed it. The thing that sucks is that here, those movies only show at like 9:30 pm, and only on Fridays and Saturdays I think.
yeah, but it doesn't take up the whole screen...it is the same size picture as if it were in a regular sized theater....at least that is the way it was when I went to the Loews in Manhattan.
unless it is formatted for the IMAX screen shape, it will be kinda funky. I don't know about them projecting the regular sized image onto the larger screen, but I had the misfortune of seeing Pearl Harbor on an IMAX screen.
Since it wasn't formatted for IMAX, the image was all stretched out vertically (rectangular image stretched to fit a more square screen). Not cool.

That's what I figured. But the size and the absolutely awesome sound will make up for the "black bars" on the top and the bottom. It'll be like watching a DVD on my regular-sized TV, except my regular-sized TV will be 10 stories tall.
Now if they stretch it to fit the whole screen, like isildur mentioned, I'll be ticked off. :|
