I got home really late from work last night, around midnight.

I get up this morning, and I notice someone has taken a screwdriver to the ignition of my motorcycle. Well, it's a crappy bike anyway, and they didn't steal it...I go to start it up, but it simply won't fire. Upon further examination, some idiot has taken one of my spark plugs. I find what's left of it on the ground...my first thought is that some stupid CRACKHEAD had taken it. I'm upset, but at least they didn't cause more damage, right? I'm out $2 or so for a new spark plug. But obviously today I need to take the car instea....oh wait.:|

Yep, the bastards broke my window and took the CD player....like so. Now I'm out hours of my time and least $100 (my deductible). That's assuming they'll give me enough money to buy a real replacement, considering I bought the car used and have no proof of what sort of CD player was in there. They also took some CDs...but, after running to the store to get some plugs for the bike and tape up the window to keep the rain out, I notice
this, which warms my heart a little. They're CD-Rs fool! They ain't worth sh!t! :laugh:
(don't make fun of the CD holder, I got it for free and it fits in the glove box)

The guy at the store when I bought the new plugs said that they probably used the ceramic to break the car window..apparently it works well, and makes a lot less noise than hitting it with a rock or bat. The internet seems to confirm this. Needless to say, I'm not parking my bike next to MY car again 😛

Cliffs: I hate thieves, and think they should be beaten savagely with a spikey baseball bat.


 
Yeah the white stuff on the spark plugs is what they used to break your window.

Did you call the cops? I don't see you mention it..
 
Honestly, the death penalty should be given a lot more often. I think crime would go way down if stealing a radio or a spark plug was punishable by death.

I did. Of course, for damage below $1500, they don't even send someone out. Then I called my insurance agent.

Looks like a decent neighborhood from what I could tell. That really does suck, though. Sorry for your loss and aggravation.
 
Classic MR2. I had one back in 88. It was white and Supercharged. Man, I loved that car.

I saw your interior shot and had sudden flashbacks of warm memories.

Yeah, I'm pretty happy with it...though it could use a supercharger 😎

Luckily, they didn't mess up the interior too bad...filled it with glass, and ripped off a panel to get at the deck, but that's it.

I was thinking about getting new rims+tires, but that'll have to be postponed...

My car got stolen about a year ago, yes. Same car. It got recovered nine months later without much damage...I got lucky.

Still, this is about the third car-related crime I've had to deal with in about as many years. My Celica had the trunk forcibly opened with a screwdriver and my tools taken, the MR2 was stolen, and now the MR2 got broken into and a head unit stolen. Lovely...
 
That's fvcked up.

Man, oh man... i would sever someone's fingers over something like that.

edit: was telling the b/f what happened, and as soon as i said..broken window... he knew they used the spark plug to do it. he asked me if it was a spring loaded center punch.
