so, tell me what this is about

we recently switched from direcTV to comcast cable, so I had to reset everything in my tivo to have it point to those channels as opposed to thinking it was direcTV. so i get everythign all set up and it seems as though i'm back in business except when i go to change the channel, it seemingly changes the channel (i get the channel bar on the tv and the cable box number changes) however on the tv itself, it remains on the public access channel.

what gives?

The channel on the TV never changes only the cable box does make sure you have your TV setup on a Video input channel.

i'm assuming it is some stupid setting that im missing

You don't have RCA TV input connections on your TV? If not ,I think I remember seeing a setup on an older TV in the manual. I think you can dload the manual in PDF form from Tivo's website.

I do not. Currently in the market for a new TV, just haven't pulled the trigger yet.

i went to tivo's website and connected it as shown. i'm pretty sure i have it all connected properly (which is why i can view tivo, make edits, and change channels on the box)

but the tv channel stays the same!

Why would the channel on the tv change, its not suppose to. Tivo should change the channel on the cable box, via infrared controller cable, and output it through coaxial on channel 3.

I heard that you can get the Tivo interface on Comcast digital boxes for an extra charge per month, at least I read an article to that effect somewhere

i think your thinking of the dvr box that comcast offers. they charge a little more per month for it to replace the standard cable box.
of course the interface is not as good as tivo's, nor does it have the tivo desktop tool, only 40gb, etc.
