WASHINGTON - GOP presidential candidate Ron Paul is hinting to supporters that he is ending his long-shot campaign for the presidency.

Hello---Earth to Ron what`s his name.........Earth to Ron what`s his name....lolol

Well it`s nice to know what we already thought was the case...

Ron Paul brings a good message to the table. The campaign let him get national coverage for his message. That is an accomplishment of its own. While he wasn?t my first choice among Republicans in the primary, he would be my only choice in the general election if he cast aside the Republican Party.

At least he lasted longer than Ghouliani and Thompson, and reminded us that Republicans used to be fiscally conservative.

Are you sure OP? I heard there is still a chance for Ron Paul to win the nomination. Nevermind the fact that McCain already has!

My "real life" Ron Paul friends (yea, I was as shocked as anyone that they exist outside of the internet) are still voting for him in the general election. They say they're going to write him in out of principle.

Now...I'm not one to say voting for a 3rd party candidate is throwing away your vote. But that's kinda dumb.

Anyone voting for Hillary shouldn't call other people dumb.

I would personally like to thank Ron Paul for introducing our youngest generations to the political process AND convincing them to be conservative in their beliefs.

Both are good things.

That said, I also hope their lunacy fades someday, and they eventually become productive and sane members of society again... well, as sane as any former RP supporter could be! :D

If I see someone voting for Hillary, I'll let them know. Do you mistake the fact that I don't like Ron Paul and find the vile hatred Obamaites have for her absurd, as me voting for Hillary?

I thought I saw in a previous thread that you were supporting Hillary. If I was wrong, you have my apologies.

No, I just don't hate her, and I don't really understand why so many democrats do.

I'm a registered Democrat, so I'll be voting in the upcoming PA primary, most likely for Obama (I was a John Edwards fan myself). However, there's a very good chance I vote McCain in the general election, regardless of who wins the D primary. We'll see what happens in November.

I think you misunderstood. He was just saying since he had an overwhelming lead in public support he doesn't need to campaign anymore.
Check it out for yourself. He is way ahead in the polls.

On the video they reference at around 4:30 he says he's continuing the Presidential campaign to gather the most votes they possibly can.

At this point, those who said he should have run as the Libertarian candidate, were 100% correct. The party needs some support, and I hope Paul's supporters turn to them in the future, as long as the Republicans remain dominated by neo-cons.

I respect those who vote for a 3rd party or write in candidate who has no chance to win than those who stay home just because 'their horse' can't win the race. I give a big  to them for sticking to their principles.

Edit: That said I voted Kerry in '04 not because I liked him but because I *really* didn't like Bush. ;)

he's not even a candidate, though. I'm fine with voting for a 3rd party candidate...but what is the use in voting for someone that's not even officially a candidate? Correct me if I'm wrong, but hasn't Ron Paul said he won't run as a Libertarian?

QFT.

Said the guy who voted for Bush. Twice.

I think we can take our collective foot off the neck of the RPs, they've been quiet lately.

If you're voting for someone you think is good, you're never throwing away your vote.

Just because the rest of the idiots don't know how to vote for anyone but who their told to vote for doesn't mean you're doing it wrong by writing in a name.

Eh. As I said above, I'm a little bit of a John Edwards fan, but I won't be writing him in. He already lost.

QFT. Unless the D or the R are worth voting for on their own, I almost always vote 3rd party. I don't vote for one of the "Big 2" just because they've got the best chance of winning - I only vote for the candidate closest to my personal beliefs and values, regardless of the chance he/she has in the election. And I try to vote for a 3rd party candidate as much as possible just on principle. Too much herd mentality in the Big 2.
