I had started a thread a while back saying that I would never buy a ATI card again. They refused to honor my MIR even though I followed their instructions (except copying the bar code in case of a mishap) and had copies of all receipts and box, etc. (again except a duplicate copy of the barcode I sent to them).

So that was almost 8 months ago and I had written off getting the MIR and written off ATI forever.

So I ordered the G80 from Newegg today and when I went to my E-mail to print off the order confirmation, invoice, etc. I see....An E-mail from ATI confirming they have received my MIR and to allow 6-8 weeks for processing!

So wow, only 10 months to get a MIR to someone. I guess that's better than not honoring it which is what they told me 2 months ago..

Might have waited to see what R600 would bring had I known about this even a day ago. Meh- looking forward to Nvidia's latest card.:)

:) heh, my record is 12 months to get back a MIR. I can't remember what it was for now.

But what i really hate ...is going through all the hassle ..finally getting the check....and then forgetting to cash it (just found a linksys 20$ one with a june 06 expiry date).

But the best example...Canada Post sent me my 10$ logitech rebate in a plastic bag ....in many, many pieces. It also came with a note ....sorry for any inconvenience.

bottom line: I really, really HATE rebates!!

My last ATI rebate took over six months to reach me. :| It was a great card but that rebate stuff is BS. I avoid rebates at all cost now. :p

this is why I dont deal with rebates at all period, if its a "hot deal" because of MIR, I ignore it.

Took me 3 years to get a rebate once, on a 16x CD-RW drive. Same deal, they said I didnt include the barcode, and send in a copy, which I couldnt because I already sent them the thing. Well anyways, 3 years later the rebate check shows up out of nowhere. Funny thing is I dont think the company even existed anymore....it was like a generic brand drive at Fry's.

Anyways, rebates are too much hassles. If I get a rebate back its never in the specified time period, and since you cant rely on the money coming back the rebate is useless.

Whoa- 3 years. How would that even happen? They found your barcode/envelope stuck behind a file cabinet? Cool you finally got it.

Off topic, but while we're talking about rebates............

I can only remember NOT getting 1 $20 rabates years ago. But here's a GOOD result. When Diamond was still Diamond years ago, I bought a Monster 3D (Voodoo 1) for $130 new, plus a $30 rebate. Submitted after making copies of everything-----wait-----wait some more. Called Diamond - they didn't have my stuff but I could mail copies. So I did and waited------waited-------finally called again. Still no papers, but I could fax copies to them. So, BLAH,BLAH------waited again. Finally got my $30. About a week later I get ANOTHER check, this one $40! And I got a THIRD (and last!) check for $50 couple weeks later!!!!! The card only cost be $10 + tax when all was said and done. I guess it pays to be persistant sometimes!

That isn't so bad.
My last OCZ rebate took over 11 months to get to my months.
And that was after approx 5 phone calls over the year.

A little late getting back but............

Hell yes I cashed them all! Now I'm pretty honest folk. If they would have contacted me later saying the checks were sent by mistake I would have wrote them a check. I loved Diamond cards back then. Had several: Stealth S220 PCI, Monster 3D PCI, Monster Fusion PCI, Viper v770 Ultra AGP. Then they closed shop until only recently. But they never contacted me, so the $$ stayed with me.
