Today pretty much sucked at work. Come home to find all the contents of my hard drive are gone. I thought I had a virus, but I was putting off formatting. I just had to format and lost everything.

What virus is this likely to be, and is there a way to save the data if you reach the stage you're at - eg. unable to boot?

A friend of mine has this virus and I'd like to offer a remedy if possible.
