Where did "Oh snap!" come from?

popularized by Tracy Morgan of Saturday Night Live, OH SNAP is seemingly derivative of oh no you didn't where an insulted person, for example a guest of Jerry Springer or often a spunky African American woman contends the insult being made against him/her. While derivative of "oh no you di-int," OH SNAP has more of an emphasis on playfulness and can be said by people other than those being insulted.

It's been around since I was a kid, IIRC, so it's a lot older than Zoolander or Tracy Morgan on SNL.

First known usage was by the 1980's rap song "Just a Friend" by Biz Markie. Its a "rated G" way of saying "oh ******"

It's from Fergie's song "London Bridge". Her album is so original--the lyrics, the beats and instrumentals, all of it. I highly recommend it!

i could have sworn it was popularized in the 80's when people did that snapping thing with their fingers (position hand and fingers as if holding chopsticks then whip wrist up and down so that index and middle finger make snapping sound).
