“APD engages in a pattern or practice of unconstitutional use of violence and use of deadly force… and the use of less than lethal force…” and “system deficiencies that cause or contribute to the use of excessive force”, such as substandard training of officers, inadequate community policing, institutional failures in the investigation of shootings and accountability system, an aggressive culture among officers, a disconnect between officers and the community over this aggressive behavior, lack of use of the crisis intervention team and weak civilian oversight.

Since 2010, APD has shot 40 civilians many of them unarmed.

Judge for yourself. How much of a threat is the mentally ill James Boyd in the photo above? Photo taken moments before APD blew him away.

In April, the Federal Department of Justice found a pattern of excessive force, saying, "officers too frequently used deadly force against people who posed a minimal threat."

They've only shot two more people since then...

And people are protesting?

Who da thunk it?

Agreed. The APD is widely known across the West for their thuggish methods & headsets, obviously fostered from the Chief on down.

Maybe Right Libertopians need to look at themselves & who they're in bed with.

Probably not.

So how do they get the police chief out? I know they can call a recall for the mayor, but what about the rest?

Make it hot enough for the Council & the Mayor that they'll find a new Chief to turn the dept in a different direction.
