US President Barack Obama warned Monday that as things stand at the moment, Iran would attain nuclear weapons capabilities.

"We know that they have pursued nuclear weapons in the past, and that the current course they’re on would provide them with nuclear weapons capabilities," he told The New York Times. "You combine those facts, and the message that we are sending is that this behavior is unacceptable. It is outside of the rules of the road that the international community has observed. They have an opportunity to correct these — what I consider to be a misguided approach."

Obama vowed to continue working to prevent the Islamic republic from developing nuclear arms.

"I’ve said publicly that we don’t begrudge any country obtaining nuclear energy for peaceful civilian purposes. But Iran has not considered itself bound in many ways by the basic precepts of the NPT, or has violated them on several occasions," he said. "And so we are going to continue to try to isolate any countries that are operating outside of that approach.”

On March 28, former US ambassador to the UN John Bolton warned of the White House moving towards acceptance of a nuclearly capable Iran. “I very much worry the Obama administration is willing to accept a nuclear Iran, that's why there's this extraordinary pressure on Israel not to attack in Iran,” Bolton told Army Radio.

Obama will never declare war against Iran. He could have done many things since November of 2008 to slow-down or delay Iran's nuclear program, but instead he guts sanctions bills passed by Congress and publicly humiliates allies like Britain, France, and Israel while sucking up to enemies/rivals like Venezuela, Saudi Arabia, Iran, etc.

If Iran isn't disarmed the ME will become a nuclear powder-keg. Good bye cheap oil...

What will happen if Iran acquires nuclear weapons?

I'll summarize:

A) All Arab states will arm themselves with nukes - and rightly so. Saudi Arabia funded Pakistan's program just for situations like these. Egypt is suspected of acquiring nuclear secrets in the past decade, and has the capacity to develop the technology in the immediate future if it chose to.
UAE, Jordan, and Qatar will probably arm as well.

B) Israel's foreign policy is centered around maintaining a qualitative edge over its enemies. Since 1973 USA has made a strong effort to ensure Israel is the regional superior, but only to guarantee stable oil. As long as Israel plays nice and doesn't threaten oil, USA will guarantee Israel's security long-term.

Iran acquiring nukes is a deal-breaker. It will set up a nuclear arms race in the Middle East. Israel is already paranoid about Lebanon and Gaza, but with Iran on the table the Middle East won't survive 2 decades without a confrontation.

West can depend on Israel not to use its nuclear capabilities unless it really had to. Arabs invaded in 2 separate occasions knowing full-well Israel had nuclear weapons.

But Iran is unreliable and unpredictable.

A NUCLEAR IRAN threatens oil, and as we all know oil is very, very important to the West. A physical confrontation between Israel and Iran will be devastating, and USA will be dragged in in some way, but allowing Iran to acquire nuclear weapons will only delay the inevitable, and when confrontation arises - the whole ME will become a radioactive desert.

Point is, Israel won't chance a nuclear Iran - Period. It shouldn't have to. It's unfortunate the West has become so corrupted by Muslim oil that rogue regimes like Iran have propped up because of our twisted energy policy, but Israel will clean it up and there is nothing you can do about it.

Most lefties don't realize just how much the muslims hate each other. The shiite-sunni split has killed more Muslims than any "imperialist war."

Israel is just a lightening-rode used on the muslim population to keep them from over-throwing their own despotic dictatorship. the whole war with israel is designed to keep population distracted and subjugated, protecting the despotic leadership from coups, etc..

but iran is a real threat to the arab world, and they will arm the moment iran does, and there is nothing israel or the USA can do to stop it.
