It's almost not a bad idea.

My two favorite semiconductor companies together in one. It's like a silicon reece's cup :D

I wouldn't be surprised if nVidia starting making their own CPUs. Look at their transistor count...

No way, Nvidia brings the NForce to the table which goes above and beyond just video cards.

Isn't there a huge difference between CPUs and GPUs?

And i don't like mergers so sh|t on this idea.

lol! :D

personally (and i think a lot of ppl would agree with me) i'd prefer ATI but the logistics don't make much sense... and i'm not a great fan of their chipsets either.... either way AMD needs to merge with someone STAT cause they are gonna get beat out by intel solely because they have less money to battle with...

Isn't ATi developing a chipset?

And op, it's Oi not Oh. Link.

Good idea. AMD and nVidia should merge, then try and win over the contract to be used in Apple's computers.

I prefer ATI but I like Nvidea. Both are quality products and they both are good to us. I started with Nvidea, went to ATI, and I'm considering Nvidea as my next move.
The differences between quality and performance are negligible. Same with Intel and AMD. AMD has a performance edge where I want it and they're the underdog. I go with AMD exclusively, but there's nothing "wrong" with Intel.

Nvidia isn't a semiconductor company, and has never manufactured a single semiconductor.

I'm sorry, thanks for correcting me...the fact that they have designed hundreds of integrated ICs with millions of semiconductors on them makes them not a semiconductor company.

The PS3 uses an nvidia chip IIRC.

Re-read my post (correctly this time) and try telling me that I'm wrong. They've never manufactured a single semiconductor.

AMD manufactures semiconductors. Nvidia doesn't.

I'm well aware of that They're not any less of a semiconductor company, fabless or not.

If you have no fabs, you don't make semiconductors. They're a design house, not a semiconductor company.

A SEMICONDUCTOR design house, therefore they are a fabless semiconductor company. Besides, you're getting caught up in some anal retentive terminology war to try to prove you know more than me about semiconductors or something. Please wave your e-schlong in another direction.

There is a difference, yes.

What's your point?

But it's so large and unwieldy that I have trouble pointing it in any direction. Do you have a forklift I can borrow?
