Laptop is only about a year and half old. Sparks fly when I plug it in to my AC adapter. This can't be good at all. Still works though. :Q

Might be time to start looking for a new laptop.

What type of power plug connection is it 3 or 2 pins?
Does that happen anywhere you try your connection or just happened in a specific place (for best results try it some where other than your house)

How did you isolate the short?

How did you fix it? Mobo replaced?

I haven't yet :( I'm thinking I'll just try ebaying it as-is; the LCD is still good (as is everything else). It really isn't worth replacing (at least to me); I'll just get a newer, faster laptop instead. :)

I hear something rattling around in there...a loose piece. That might be shorting mine out.
