Hello,
I didn't get a lot of answers on a different forum, so I thought I might get more help here. I just got my Albatron 6800 Ultra and got everything set up. Not overclocking it or anything, I was playing far cry when it quit to my windows desktop and I took the screen cap below (do I need a new power supply or should I send this card back?) I have not had this happen again since I reconfigured my power connectors, but I'm freaked out now. I am running a Antec True Power 430, have the 61.77 drivers and DirectX 9.0c installed. Should I try a different configuration?

i would say screen artifacts(sp?) (in windows as opposed to only in games) are a sign of either a loose connection or a heat problem (generally a loose heatsink possibly).

i have a Geforce3Ti500 that did this exact same thing after the heatsink crapped out, but it was doing it even while booting, and for some reason i coudln't get it to work right even after replacing the heatsink with a better one. perhaps something got fried on teh card.

anyway, check the heatsink/fan on the card, i doubt its your power supply, unless there's something crappy about your particular one (or the connector?), chances are slim in this case, but every company statistically will have a DOA/POS everyonce in a while, could be the same with the card i suppose. I would look at the card, especially if your previous cards had no problems.

either a fubar card, or like the above poster said, something with the connection, or a heat issue.

Looks like a heat issue. My Radeon 9800 pro does that when its overclocked to high. Try opening your case or cooling your room down.

Looks like an OC or heat issue... so if it's a new card that's not OC, then it looks like it's the card.

And yes, try another configuration... in another board with a new install of Windows would be best.

a bit off topic, but how did u get that avatar? you've only got 2 posts. it'd be kinda weird for the mods to give you admin right off your 2nd post.

I have gotten artifacts similar to that on my X800XT 3 times in the last month. I suspect now that the fan on my card isnt coming on when I boot my computer and get these artifacts. I've been waiting a week for it to happen again so I can check the fan but no joy yet hehe. My screen looks almost identical to yours when it happens so I know how you feel having your brand new card crap out on you :( . I agree with Lyfer though its probably heat related.

That's exactly what I got when overclocking my BFG 6800 gt. It doesn't do that at stock settings. You can always pull the case side off and see if your fan is working like it should. It's kind of a drag to have issues with these cards when they are so few and far between. Hope you get it solved.

Maybe try an older set of drivers, I started getting some strange artifacts when I updated to the 61.77 drivers and direct x 9.0c with my 5900 Ultra. Went back to an older set of drivers, and the problem went away.
