Oh NO!! An 8KHA+ that's refusing to boot!

Take everything out. Verify the CPU and a single stick of RAM in another board.

Try setting the FSB jumper to 100 rather than 133. See if it will boot.

Make sure the CMOS clear jumper isn't in the "clear" position.

Try again. When (If) it fails, RMA it.

Unfortunately, your experience replicates mine with 5 different 8KHA+ boards. Except I usually got C1 or another RAM error code rather than the ubiquitous FF.

The FSB is now set to 100mhz because I loaded a T-bird 1000/100 into the board to verify that my Pally 1600+ isn't busted. I've moved the 256mb ram around all three dimms, and I've booted with the jumper in "normal" mode, but I still get the "FF" signal and no video signal.

BTW, my 300w PSU is not powering the board anymore, but my 250w PSU still works (wierd, did the 300w fry or something?)

I've tried 3 video cards, and I've reseated ample times, but for some reason, the "FF" led signal won't go away!? Perhaps RMAing is the only solution :frown:

mebbe you should consider the 250 is not cutting it powerwise.

i just did a volt mod on my pc power and cooling 425 watter, an older model, about three years old, by simply opening the p/s then adjusting the pots for a bit more juice upon delivery. amazing results. my 5 and 12 volt rails always reported good, i just fine tuned a bit more with the pots, and no more weird problems with my memory, especially when using more than one stick at a time. i had suspected the ram for the beginning, but now am convinced more than ever it was just a power supply delivery issue, yes, even with this massive p/s, and my power hungry Epox motherboard.

now, if your 250 has pots to adjust the rails, only takes a few minutes to expose, then you just might get the 250 to work, worth a try.

The 300W died on me, so I returned the case and 300W today. Since I am using the 250W working PSU, I am testing the board with my working T-bird 1.0/100 because that way there should be enough power to go around (the T-bird and my old K7T Turbo were all powered by the same 250W PSU).

BTW, I am still quite stumped !?

Hmmm ok try booting up with no ram,my friend did this with his working Epox 8KHA+ while he was waiting for his memory to arrive and got the C1 error,if you get this then I think it`s a PSU problem since some boards like more power then others so what`s fine for one board may not be enough for another .

"FF" is what you get for boot attempt and working Epox board while on,so if yours stays at FF after ram is removed then you know it`s a faulty board.

Mem, that was a kind tip. Unfortunately, my board boots with a "FF" when there's no ram in the socket :( It looks like it's DOA, whatever that stands for (I'm assuming it stands for Dead on Arrival).

On a side note, the fan connector closest to the CPU socket doesn't work, so I have to connect the CPU fan to the connector reserved for a back fan on the case. I hope that the CPU can take around 15 seconds or so without a fan, but with a heatsink (on idle, of course).

Yep it can with heatsink on :).
