WTF? Why even discuss it with your wife. I would have told her absolutely not and taken the boots back myself and gotten better ones.
Not that I am going to win this discussion because in the end I wish I could have. The sequence of events that led to this happening this morning were possibly avoidable yet noticed.
Kid's primary boots were sopping wet on the inside and no one put them on the boot warmer to dry them out the night prior.
I wasn't aware of the boot purchase until about 5 minutes before the bus arrived...the whole argument was over in 2 minutes and yes I buckled because I didn't want to have to deal with the kid missing the bus and the shit storm that would have ensued after that.
The kid got new boots tonight, straight black with no frills.
He has a younger brother so the two of them together can generally take care of themselves against any kid their size if they had to if it ever came to that in the general sense on a playground.
After the whole ordeal with him coming home, it did make my wife realize that kids are cruel at that age and that future purchases should be screened
