I just got to hear (or not hehe) the fan on the 8800GTX for the first time.

That puppy is QUIET! For the past few days I've had it in a noisy environment. Compared to the waring blender X1900XTX this thing is silent!

Even when a 3D app is fired up there is no roar like the other cards. That is impressive.

Does that fan EVER speed up? It makes a wooshing noise at POST but even that isn't objectionable. The ATI sounds like a BIG server fan when starting up and hits those speeds when stressed hard (GPU core at 100°C!)
 
My 8800GTS is silent, I cant hear it at all, even in games. In fact this lastest build has me impressed as the fans in the case are also very quiet. I have a very quiet hum from the fans,nearly impossible to hear above the background noise. The only thing I hear is the Raptor seeking.
