Oh my goodness gracious! Nero lied to me.

It said the burn process failed. But I popped the cd into another drive and it is still completely readable and I couldn't find any visible flaws in the playback.

It probably didn't finalize the disc that's all. You might want to try to read it on a cdrom drive that isn't a cd-r/rw or dvd rom drive and see if it is readable.
