90% of my wife's email is forwards. I've asked her why she doesn't just take all our junk snail mail and send it to one of her friends, since they don't seem to mind sending her the electronic equivalent.

And they think that getting some stupid email, and forwarding it to someone else without comment, is "staying in touch"?

...And thus the popularity of IMAP-driven web clients continues to grow. POP sucks in those situations. Check your service provider for availability.

Just to let you know Kat, I only clicked on this because you had the "Ohhhh" face as an icon  and said "Oh my god!" LOL

I had a similar experience a couple days ago. I went to set up my ex-wife's computer because she just got a cable modem but her computer was still in a box when the cable guy came out. He just installed the modem, left the nic, and had a PHONE CORD plugged into the modem.

I said "did he leave a cat5 cable?" She said "huh?" Luckily there was a cat5 patch cable in the modem box he left behind so I opened her box (settle down, not like that) and put in the nic and got it running.

I started her outlook to set up her email account and it imported all the emails automaticlly, to her surprise (wish I had a pic of her expression...). Showed up a few names that we were arguing about before our divorce, and the total times she emailed them and the dates, once again to her surprise.

Nuff said, she can pay somebody to help her in the future.

forwarding email is one of the early steps of computer literacy. You all have friends/relatives who went through/are still going through this phase.

I've made it crystal clear to friends & family, I don't care if ICQ is going to start charging (they haven't yet), or if there is some super nasty virus going around (I'll hear about it on here), or there's some poor kid in Indiana who wants an e-mail sent around the world 500 million times.

NO FWD!

True. Please do the following for carbon copies in the future, use the BCC (blind carbon copy) for everybody except the primary address. I even send a letter to myself and BCC it to all the people I want to see it, like for virus warnings or jokes. If not, you are showing everybodies address to all the recipients.

The post office a bunch of fuddy duddies though. They prohibited chain letters a long time ago. Those bastards! I can't send out a letter saying

"Forward this letter to ten friends! The Post Office is tracking it and everyone who's name on it will recieve $200 once it hits 1000 names. Believe me! It works! The USPS just sent me a check for $200 last month!!!!"

Sheesh. And you'd think that the USPS would encourage things like this. JOB SECURITY I tell ya!
