Just saw this now, this is what that Nokia countdown was for. I will preemptively say that I would sell my iPhone and Bold for this in a heartbeat. So sexy, look at that 16:9 SCREEN. Amazing device. Heres to hoping it will become all it can be.

Well, I generally get hot for chicks, not phones.
But I will say I'm a big Nokia fanboy and this looks freaking awesome.

Shame, because I could only find a decent selection of Nokias at T-mobile and the one I got (6301) was awesome except for the crappy battery.
Went ahead and got an LG touchscreen from Verizon instead. Now I gotta wait a year before I can change.

Or, I could just buy this sucker unlocked. But thats an aweful lot of money and I dont know if I'd be able to use all my services properly.
Must say that 32GB of onboard memory is certainly a step in the right direction. I'm tired of all these so-called multimedia phones that have 20 megs onboard and expect you to buy a memory card.

Glad to see it has GPS.

That is a sweet phone right there. I was wondering when they were going to combine the hardware power of the N Series with the "sexiness" the market wants.

Yeah, it's from Nokia so it will likely be TDMA/GSM.

It looks very nice. Nice resolution screen, and nice to see something that looks like it work as a decent camera. Symbian S60 OS - guess that's a plus, although momentum seems to be on Android for open-source Unix-based OS's but definitely right now S60 has the edge over Android in terms of features in my opinion... it'd be nice if they'd merge. N95's have Adobe Flash-lite support and will likely get Adobe's Flash-medium support or whatever Adobe will call it (I'm not a huge fan of Flash and have it disabled on my main PC browser, but it's becoming increasingly useful for things). A2DP support. Nice battery life.

It's a bit thick though. No 1700MHz UMTS support - so it won't work with T-Mobile's extremely slowly rolling out 3G network... The screen is resistive... so it won't be as bright as capacitive touchscreens (iPhone, Storm, G1) or as durable, but it will work with a stylus, which could be nice.

I'm impressed. Not drooling, but I'm impressed. :)

Meh, for $700 I want it to pleasure me too :D

I have to admit I'm a fan of the N800 N810 stuff, and have always wondered why they didn't make it into a phone.

at a $400 price point, they'd rule the world.

Well, its $700 without a contract. If they can actually strike a deal with AT&T or T-Mobile you'd be able to get a carrier contract discount.

$700 is out of my range too... although I'll go up to $500... but I also won't buy a subsidized phone - especially ones that are locked to a specific data/SMS plan. I hate trying to get out of a contract, or giving money to get out of a contract. I won't sign another contract.

I agree - $400 unlocked and without a contract would put it in an attractive spot for me.

I sure wish it was not a resistive (or whatever it is called) touchscreen....I find those a lot more frustrating to use. Also, I would prefer that it did not have the keyboard (i know, I know, flame me now lol) and was thinner like the HTC Touch HD.

I guess my opinion doesn't matter cause it is way out of my price range anyway, hah.

Ah gotcha. Does that mean you haven't been able to use any of the recent BBs either fingolfin?

at my old job (Lockheed) I worked in a SCIF - we couldn't bring in phones at all, cameras, mp3 players, or even CD-Rs.

Yah it sucks. I had to get the 8830. It was the only phone I could find that had every feature I wanted without a camera. Still looking for that perfect plan that allows for two phones sharing the same number so I can use a ghetto phone at work and the one I actually want to use when not at work. Unfortunately the incremental plan costs just aren't worth it to me.

I take it you're not on a service that uses sim cards then? If so you could swap sim cards into the BB you have now for work, and into a phone you really want when you're home. It's a pain, yeah, but it's something if you're able.

Nope, no SIM card. I have no idea how all of the multi-use plans work so I may be in fantasy land thinking Sprint has a plan that will allow one phone to number to be shared across two phones.

So if you don't do the whole contract thing, which carrier do you use and what kind of data rates do you get? I ask because I don't want to be locked down either.

I use T-Mobile and their EDGE service. It's slow (ok, extremely slow... about 120kb/s but with a latency of about 600ms). But I'm not locked into anything and I get a fairly cheap plan. Their internet plans start at $6/month (on top of a voiceplan).

I did exactly the same, but recently upgraded to a data plan with my G1, for $25/month.

Family plan with 4 lines of service at the moment with TMobile.

Don't like the 2 year contracts they're offering right now....
