I was playing Counterstrike one night after work as usual, hit escape to change my mouse sensitivity and the screen turned black, I couldn't do anything to get our of that screen, it just froze. I held down the pwr button until it shut down, then I turned the system back on again. On the post screen there are no hard drives now! All it sees are the CD-ROM drives.... but after POST passes and I get to the RAID detection screen, it sees the array... After that screen it just stops loading, right before the Win XP Pro screen comes up. I took my tower apart and reconnected all the cables and jumpers, flashed my CMOS, and repeatedly rebooted my system to no avail. I even unplugged my CDROM drives, plugged one of the drives from the raid into IDE 1 (which my burner is on) and the system detected it, but I want my damn RAID back, along with all my files...

Western Digital Caviar 80gb, 8mb cache drives in RAID 0 on IDE 3 and 4
EPOX 8K5A3+ MB with 512 GeIL Turbo 433 Ram
Win XP Pro with SP1

Any thoughts?

can't help you much with the raid array, but I would like to be the first one to tell you that you should have backed up all mission critical data. It's always tough when you learn the hardway.

hope you get it worked out.

Hey, since it's a RAID 0, I'd say your datas gone.. Don't fret too much, we all learn from experience.. I had the same thing happen to me (well, in the middle of a term paper and not a video game)... After that I just run my raid PLUS a 3rd (not part of an array) hard drive for all my important data.. Maybe someone will have some way of recovering data - until then, be prepared for a lot of posts about all the "pron" (why do people say that!) people have lost in the past, etc. etc.

not an expert by any means but,
when in raid setup do you get any error messages?
have you tried to rebuild your raid array?
you may try to reinstall raid drivers and do a repair of XP. If raid setup looks ok it seems to me
your raid drivers may be the problem.
as I said I'm no expert

I'd say your data is toast. Does it tell you what errors its getting?
