So, like, long story short I stole my boss's 19" ViewSonic LCD after removing the 17" Acer LCD I had before. Hooray, fantastic goodness abounds. Woot.

A client brought in his ancient Dell for some benchwork and I thought I'd just do it here at my desk because the benches are currently all being used for a major order of system builds. He said that it doesn't boot properly.

Hook it up, F8, SafeMode, and it boots --HOLY MARY FRIGGIN MOTHER OF JESUS H. TAPDANCING CHRIST.

640x480 does NOT look good on a 19" LCD.

I about fell backwards when the dialogue box popped up reminding me that I chose safemode, like, 10 seconds earlier.

God, I have to squint to read everything because it's so damn HUGE.

Working on this is going to be a bitch. Thank god for my KVM.

LCD's have a native resolution, if that's what you're referring to; however, they all display multiple resolutions. It's just like a CRT with regard to reslution functionality. They just look a hell of a lot better.

LCD's can stretch and shrink the display to multiple resolutions, but it doesn't look as good as it does on an CRT.

Some can simply display a smaller resolution in the center of the screen, with a black box around it for the unused pixels.

Next time you go to the movies, sit in the very front row of the biggest screen you can find and try watching the movie. Straining your eyes for long periods of time can cause deteriorated vision if strained too much for too long.
