Oh man, what an aweful day at work (IT department, dare I say more)

alright dare I start the fact that our plans to upgrade our 6 PC servers to Win2000 Server have been put off due to time contraints (Apple servers already up to OS 10 server..) but that's not the half of it... 100 new computers were supposed to be in weeks ago along with monitors and still nothing, worse yet the samples they sent us have WinXP Pro OEM instead of with a VLK meaning each one would have to be activated (the company is sooo stupid)... and today the security software (Fortres Grand with clean slate) decided to go down everywhere... after updating the settings on the server side from backups the clients acknowledge the new settings but clean slate is still useless... and oh my the list goes on and on and on....

Don't take it as offense but I do not feel sorry for you and your sitting-waiting-for-an-OS-to-load-while-i-plug-in-a-monitor job. 😉

Yes, yes it is often like that in IT. But, when stuff goes wrong, oh man does the work pile up. Man oh man....

LOL

there's three peoplei this summer and I'm the middle guy so to speak and I am always on the go solving problems, dealing with people, filling out paper work and boy I've carried and pushed on cart hundreds and hudreds of computers and junk from building to building this summer you have no idea....

Dude, no offense but your worst day probably doesn't even come close to my better days at work....be happy that is the least of your problems. Go in and look at it like this. "I have a new challenge to solve" make it fun, make it interesting....learn something dammit.

True. Bummer of a day, but it could be worse. Grease traps, anyone?

Your day may be bad, but mine was good to say the least. I've had an Apple Xserve(their 1U rackmount) for a few weeks, but have been lacking the rest of the drives for it(it holds up to 4 drives, in a special hot-swap SCA bay). The delivery man came this morning; I was in the server room all this afternoon.😛 If anything, the storage assembly on the Xserve is the best, as we have the drives mirrored(2 sets, 1 for data, 1 for system; it's a fileserver), and since it's hot-swappable, we can remove the drive whenever we need to(not that we want to, but if it comes to that, cool🙂). If you guys ever have the chance to stop at an Apple store and play with a Xserve, give it a shot, this thing is a riot.😀

Oh, no! The horror, the horror. Try some actual physical LABOR, and then you'll appreciate working in AC and sitting around all day, with the heaviest lifting being lifting your cell phone to make a phone call.

LOL! I takes more effort to mix a couple of wheelbarrows of concrete. Nevermind pushing them a couple hundred feet over rough ground.
