Hey all,

I'm trying to sell/trade something in the FS/T forum, and I got an email from someone whop was interested, but hadn't replied to my thread or PMed me. Well, the only problem is, I was a little too late reading the email, because I don't hardly ever check my Anandtech email address. Too much trouble. Well, I decided to make it less trouble and go ahead and set up Outlook Express, so I can check it whenever I need to without having to go through the trouble of manually checking it in a dos windows....
IT WAS ALREADY SET UP!! And what's more, there was a message in there that I HAD NEVER RECEIVED! WTF? In early November, I sent a letter to the moderator asking for something. I never got a reply. UNTIL NOW. --And it was sent Nov. 5th!! I know for a fact I never messed with Outlook on this computer before today. Every time I try to install windows, I install it without Outlook Express. Of course, that doesn't work, but I try to do it anyway. Well, I'm not sure how this happened, but all this time, I've thought that they just ignored me. Now I find out that not only did they reply, but they were nice, very agreeable, did EXACTLY what asked them to do and MORE, and even congratulated me on getting married! Geez! So, apparently, Outlook is taking messages off my server. I guess, at some point, it took messages off without my asking, and, of course, it deletes the message from the server when it does it. I can't have that happening. I want to leave it set up to check that mail, but how can I keep it from deleting the messages off my server? :|:Q:|:disgust::|

i dunno, i have out look, and passwords stored, and my brother one day got the nerve to click it up and read some mail i'd sent to some one and try to get me in trouble for it, and during that time it would have automatically pulled my mail, you never had it set up till now?? wierd, but if you had left it set up a long long time ago, and some one used your pc that might have been what happened.

Thing is, I am the ONLY person who knows the password to this account. --So I would have had to have set it up.
But, on the other hand, like I said, I always try to NOT install it, so I surely wouldn't have tried to set it up. And I think I would have remembered. UUUGGHH. Leaves a bad taste in my mouth. I hate not responding to nice emails. Only thing I hate worse is NOT GETTING THEM. Besides, if I'm gonna start using Outlook Express, I need to have the messages on the server, because I need both computers (the one here and the one at my office) to be able to have ALL my mail, past, present, and future.

There's an option for outlook express that will "leave a copy of the message on the server". It's under the advanced tab for the account properties. You can customize it to leave it there for X number of days, or until you delete it from your folder.

Thanks, SmiZ.

You know, though, I gotta say. What a STUPID PLACE to hide such a common thing. I remember back in the day when I used to use Netscape for mail. That option was right there in the properties. Not hidden, not hard to understand. There it was. It practically ASKED YOU, "Do you want to keep your mail on your server?" "Yes," I told it, and never had to worry about it again. OK. Thanks again. But I'm still annoyed. :(

I used to have the same problem until I took the time to check every damn option in the whole program. Glad I could help.
