This was a first for me? talking to a real life Communist. So I try to imagine what must be going on in their twisted little minds. I respond, "I realize that as a Communist, you would prefer we were sent to the gulag for disagreeing with you-but we're in America. Free speech is still respected here?" He turns to his cohorts and instructs them stay silent. I stare at the boy, not sure if I should feel pity, disgust, or both. "How did you ever get mixed up with these guys?" I ask. Searchingly, he looks to his comrade, then back at me-angry and frustrated. "You? you are slaves to? to the power structure?" he informs us. "I'll look into it. Thanks," I reply.

LOL!

So, how are the liberals going to answer this one?:

"Proud tradition of segregationists - only 62% of Democrats supported Civil Rights Act vs. 92% Republicans"

After the Civil War the Democrats held most of the political offices in the South. The South became predominantly Republican after JFK and Johnson supported the civil rights movement. This is why the old segregationists like Strom Thurmond switched to the Republican party. Do a google search on Dixiecrats.

I recommend anyone interested in the war and the validity of anti-war and pro-war arguments watch the video on the protest warrior website.

Here

It gave me a good laugh to be honest. Some things that stick out in my mind:

A anti-war protester when describing war protesters said:
"They like an intellectual debate. They like a debate thats based on the facts, based on the historical content... but that does not ignore reality!"

Anyone else think that guy doesn't realize what he just said?

Next:
"You can go or we can go get the cops"
"Either you leave or I'm gonna get the cops"
"The cops have told us - if you want us to get them out, we'll get them out" - Anti-War protester threatening a Pro-War protester

LOL, anti-war protesters have the right to protest but pro-war don't?

Next:

The obviously doped up lady waving her hands saying "people of peace come this way" is a riot.

Next:

"Say no more war! We want the money for healthcare, we want the money for our kids, we want to house the homeless, we want to feed the hungry... blah blah... step down George Bush step down!"

This guy must think the only people suffering in the world worth helping are in the US. I forgot the standard of living in Iraqi was so awesome.

Next:

"We're putting together a video that we want to send to 10s of thousands of Iraqis being tortured in Saddam's prisons. Is there anything you wanna say to them?"

-------"uhhh uhhh well uhhh... I guess what we would say is hold out."

At least he was brave enough to give an answer, kinda reminds me of the audio file in the Off Topic forum where the caller on the radio show wouldn't answer another caller's simple question.

Next:

Don't even get me started about the lady who was advocating dictators. I want to see her give up where she lives and move to Iraq for awhile and then say the living conditions are acceptable. She wouldn't stand a chance.

Then there was the lady who was calling the discussion unbalanced because the questions they asked her. Apparently dictators have pros and cons and and they are both worth discussing.
rolleye.gif
Since when is there any benefit of a dictatorship that cannot be achieved in country with free people? Is there a benefit thats a worthwhile tradeoff for the tortue and execution of Iraqi civilians?

Next:

"North korea is fighting to the end. I like North Korea. What is the US doing in Iraq?"
--- "Liberating the Iraqi people"
"You guys are -insert overused terms used to describe the right-"

Its nice to see he was able to hold up in a valid argument without resorting to cussing out the person he was talking to and walking away in a fit of anger just because his question was given a valid answer.

Next:

"You don't listen so just get the fnck out of here."
---"we're trying to listen."
"I don't care, I'll respond to the mic just get the fnck out of here"

I think something the pro-war protester said in their argument triggered something that was imbedded in this guys mind while he was brainwashed. Or maybe he just couldn't prove any of his points or disprove any of theirs.

I think I broke that down more then I actually intended to but I found it really amusing since there aren't any anti-war protesters around here and I've never had the chance to debate with someone anti-war face to face.

Anyone else watch the video form an opinion?

Do a little more than that even, check out each party's official platform and stance on the issues circa 1900....

Are you a dem or gop? You sure? lol, they seem to change their minds on everything as it suits them.

good analysis and recap. I determinded that 99% of the anti-war people were idiots shortly after the protests started. That video just reinforces my belief.

I've walked past one of those protests here in Philly, and believe me when I say this... most of those people are strannnnge. Ratty hair, strange clothes, alternative lifestyles. I'd say a very high percentage of them are gay/lesbian. I don't know why, but those people seem to gravitate towards the anti-war movement.

From what I have seen, these people are always protesting. They don't even care what it is. Usually they are protesting fur, or abortion, or Wal-Mart (yes, I am serious), or the treat of farm animals.

I think the difference right now is that the media is covering the protestors. Usually the media laughs and finds some poor homeless guy to interview --- while the protestors stand sipping 3$ per bottle water in 250$ Gucci shoes.

The difference is that these protests are much bigger. If thousands of people protested wal-mart, the media would cover that too.

Lots of chirping birds and little girls there.

Good analysis. Which of the two categories (birds or girls) do you fall under??

What? You talking to me? You must be talking to me.

I was referring to the silly war protesters as chirping bird, not the protest warriors. I think the protest warriors are great, that's why I started this thread.

BTW, if you don't understand the reference to chirping birds ask about the Iraqi guy who did a radio interview with this "little girl" war protester. It was posted here, quite funny how he kept calling her a "little girl" and a "chirping bird."
