I get paid for NOT using my company's medical coverage. Since we use my wife's company's plan, my company pays me an opt-out amount per year. It ends up that our premium payments amount to about $20 per month.

Not neccesarily, When I went to the eye doctor they found that the cones (sees color) were a little larger than normal. They took special pictures which cost $1200. Fortunately, insurance covered it.

this is actually good medical coverage.

PPO is ALOT better than an HMO

with the PPO you can pick your doctor, and pick what you want done, tests etc...

with and hmo you get the crappy doctor, and only the hmo wont cover much

20% is pretty standard for a PPO, i pay 10x more a month for my PPO than if i selected the hmo option.

you dont go to the hospital that often... but when you do the extra money wont be worth the flexibility a PPO offers.

you can also self refer, and dont have to see a general practioner
