I liked the Vyper better, did they scrap that project or are they still going through with it?

triumph still makes my favorite naked bike.

is this based on the monster?

edit- nevermind, they look totally different, they're just equally naked and have a similar looking frame.

Dunno. I thought the Vyper looked like a Suzuki Bee King.

Just reading some of the info on it from Duc's site:

"With 155hp of awesome Ducati L-Twin muscle harnessed in a uncovered, super-light, 167kg (368lb) bike "

I swear it looks heavier than that.

It is basically a naked 1198 Sport Bike with a less aggressive riding position and handlebars in place of clip-ons.

I like this bike but honestly I think it's too much power for the street. I've ridden the Ducati Monster 1100 S and it is a perfect blend of power and handling in a naked bike. Handling is top notch as are the brakes and it certainly will raise the front wheel off the ground effortlessly away from a light and dust off pretty much any car. It won't quite hang with a liter bike in the 1/4 mile but it will when the road starts to bend.

But hey, this bike will make the Monster 1100 S less desirable so I might be able to find a lightly used Monster for $8k in another year or so. 😀

True. I like the 1100s. 8k would be pretty easy to live with.
