Going through a bag of roasted&salted sunflower seeds (planters). Mmmm so good. How do you guys eat them? I split them between my molars length wise then separate seed and shell with my tongue then pull out the seed with my fingers (don't spit it).

Sunflower seeds are very good for you.

Well, I'm sure the Planters brand leaves something to be desired, but..

BTW, you're getting majorly ripped off when you buy those little packets. Salted , hulled sunflower seeds are 1$/lb at WinCo.

We usually get the honey roasted variant, though. We can go through a pound a week easy.

It's excellent to mix with all sorts of cereals, yogurt, brownies... yum.

Pistachios and sunflower seeds are more addictive than nicotine, heroin, and cocaine combined. At least thay aren't too bad for you.

Hah, I love pistachios too but they don't keep as well and they're a heck of a lot more expensive. I should ask my parents to pick some up when they go to Costco next time, what's the price?

They are not bad for you in the slightest, as long as they aren't cooked in hydrogenated fats.

I used to like them until I bit on one and it jammed a splinter into the roof of my mouth. I was able to pull most of it out on my own, but a small shard was left in unbeknownst to me. A week later I had developed an infection that had spread to my sinuses. I went to the doctor who sent me to the ER where a large portion of my oral cavity was removed because of the infection. To this day I am still undergoing reconstructive surgury to my sinuses, and to fix the surgically created cleft pallete.

$4.99 for a ~5 lb bag, heck of a deal.

As for the sunflower seeds I'm eating, I actually didnt' buy them, they were grabbed from the swap table at the end of last year (yeah really ghetto, shush). It's a 7oz bag for $.99 from shaws

WTF is a swap table?

End of the school year when everyone's moving out, people have crap they don't want to bring home or throw away. They put it on the swap table for others to have. You'll see stuff like used clothing, canned soup, random notebooks, stuff like that. So there was a bag of sunflower seeds on the table which I took 🙂

No sh!t?! That's insane.

The same thing could theoretically happen with just about any piece of hard food, though.... heh
