The Celtics have won 16, and the Lakers have won 13. But the Celtics haven't won a title in 16 years, where the Lakers are the two time defending NBA champs.

Unless the Mavs suddenly learn to play defense on a consistent basis, they are in for a rude awakening in the playoffs. That open court, launch 3's on the break style of offense will not fly in the postseason. The Mavs now remind me of the Lakers a little bit in Shaq's first two years. Tons of talent, can score at will, but can't defend a lamp post. That will win you a ton of games in the regular season, but it gets you bounced out of the playoffs. Trust me, Laker fans know. Eventually they are going to have to figure out that Nellie ain't taking them to the promised land, and get a coach that can teach defense. That hasn't exactly been his specialty (see Golden State in the early 90's with RUN TMC). If they could play consistent defense, they would have a great chance in the post season.
