"The first Seagate drive was 5-megabytes, and no one believed that anyone would need 5 megabytes of storage,"

He was revered at Seagate, a brilliant man who was often misunderstood. Apparently he once ran his dog for mayor of Santa Cruz. Without him we wouldn't have SCSI, SASI-schugart associates system interface, was the foundation of what would become SCSI. It wasn't until the late 90's that he was "removed" from Seagate by what would become private investors when Seagate went private in 99.

Those same investors then made a crap-ton of money during the re-IPO. I only worked for Seagate for 3mo as an intern, but it was an awesome experience.

RIP

The dude was awesome. I live not far from where he worked and when I heard of his death I was like "The hard drive wizard!?"

Turns out it was him...that sucks.
