After ages of cleaning, de-junking etc my new condo, I've finally reached the room with the washer, dryer, hot water heater, etc. Took all the junk and garbage out, scrubbed everything in sight, checked the hoses, vents and power,
ran a couple of cycles with bleach and then detergent, and finally

I can do laundry without taking it out to the laundromat!

Nearly ten years of apartment living since the divorce - I'd forgotten how wonderful it is to wash and dry stuff without hauling it out the door, down the stairs, into the car, into the laundry, and then back again.

Hallelujah!

My gf's mother recently returned a washer/dryer combo she bought refurbished from a local business. They were newer front-load models and looked really nice, but it turns out they were previously owned by smokers. No matter what she did, her clothes came out smelling like smoke, and after a short while the whole house began to reek of cigarettes.

Even after having returned them, she still has to air out her laundry room weeks later.

Anyway thats my CSB. Gratz on the new hardware.

Former residents had pets but didn't smoke, thank goodness. I feel for her.

Cool story 🙂 .

Interesting link, thanks.

I love the threads here where people are debating the skills needed for post-apocalyptic living. Nobody every mentions laundry. What, they think those clothes are going to wash themselves? How do they think they will get the bloodstains out?

oh hoh hoh so many sexist jokes...so little time😉

Make sure to keep the lint clear and do only full loads.

The utility bills can start to add up otherwise.

I have also heard rumors that if you sit on top of a running washer, it is enjoyable :hmm:

When we bought this place, the PO's said they were keeping the washer & dryer, as they were new.
We loaded up our (quite old) washer & dryer and hauled them over 100 miles only to find they had left the new ones here!
(I have been trying to get the wife to buy new for over a year now!)
