So i sold my gaming rig to make some money so that i could move out on my own. And i ended up being stuck with a half decent computer with a absolutely disgusting video card Nvidia 9300 GE, which can barely run minecraft. Its been a few months now, and I'm literally dying, to be honest sometimes i feel like crying because i miss being able to play any game i wanted at any given time, at the highest settings possible. Now that I'm paying constant bills, i don't think i will ever be able to afford a gaming computer again, and i don't think i will ever get the chance to enjoy gaming anymore. Oh man, growing up sucks indeed, FML.

- increase your employable skills
- find a higher income job
- get another job
- think about some entrepreneurial work
- rebudget your life

I mean, I don't know what you want us to say in response...???

Having disposable income is a great incentive for working hard and studying or taking night classes. Live within your means but make some goals for yourself, and a used mid-range graphics card is easily obtainable if you plan for it.

Hmmm, UW Seattle?

I graduated from there. Class of '07.

If you're not saving 20% of your income, consider making changes to your situation asap.

Not to be sarcastic, but you could possibly donate semen, if you're a man. Regardless, you could donate plasma or blood once every two weeks and save up. It would take a while, but if you have a monitor or somewhere to start, you can have a great rig for about $600.

I assume you must have some sort of job so how did selling your gaming rig help? It seems to me you simply could have waited an extra few weeks (at most) of pay checks and saved a little more rather than take the hit on selling your gaming rig.

What costs associated with moving out did selling your PC cover? Seems like if you need to sell your PC just to get out of the house then maybe you don't have enough income to be sustainable - no offense.

At least you are setting the priorities in your life straight. All is not lost though, there are plenty of old pc games that are still a lot of fun to play today (though you might have to stay away from FPS genre for a while). It's time to dig up some treasures from gog.

Wish that would happen. Right now I'm getting ready to be saddled with my fiance's 60,000 in student loans...

That's a bad financial decision right there. Let your fiance pay it then go in for the marriage.

Nothing kills more relationships and/or makes them stressful like financial issues.

And to the OP, if a gaming computer means that much, get a 2nd job part time for a month or two and get your stuff. Pretty easy.

Fuck private schools by the way.

What, did the school kidnap your fiance, force her at gunpoint to major in a, I'm guessing worthless major at expensive private school, then, still at gunpoint, force you get engaged to her and demand that you pay for her student loans? Wow, crooks sure are getting creative these days.

Well, I had to do the same thing. I'm not sure how it works over there but here, when you move into an apartment or something, you have to pay the monthly rent x2 upfront before you can move in.

I had to move to another town and the offer came so suddenly I couldn't save up the cash needed to move into my own place.

So thats why I went from a phenom2 x4 to this.

I'm in the same situation. I sold GTX 560Ti and Corsairs GS800w. Now using only integrated graphics. Luckily, I'm a fan of older rpg and strategy games, so it's perfectly fine for me. (and also luckily, I've finished DX:HR before selling the card) Speaking of integrated SB graphics, I ran GTA4 and it said I only have 121mb memory ? I thought integrated graphics have some kind of shitty 1000-3000mb memory? How do I enable it, if correct?

If you're using integrated graphics then I don't think you'll be able to run GTA4 regardless of how you set up your shared memory. And actually, GTA4 practically requires a quad core so an i3 probably won't cut it either, even if you did have a good card. Terrible PC port.

Well GTA4 is already playable with very little lag, but graphics are really shitty. There must be some way to unlock more memory.
