Yup. These are the people that ridicule you for spending $60 on a haircut, or $150 on a pair of jeans, or tanning... But if they could pay an amount of money to not be ugly, you know they would.

They're just jealous, jealous hypocrites.

no they ridicule you because you are stupid enough to pay 60$ for a haircut and 150$ on a pair of pants

It's not stupid if it makes you look better. You obviously don't 'get it.' And that 'it' is totally a double entendre.

Anubis, you'd be surprised at how much of a difference a haircut can make. It can't make someone ugly attractive, but it can make someone attractive unattractive.

As cocky as I'm sure this'll sound I'm an attractive guy (or so the ladies say 😉) but it doesn't matter how good you are, if you don't dress and maintain yourself appropriately (read: $$$$) you're not going to be as attractive as you could be.

im well aware of what a good haircut can do however no haircut is worth 60$, 20$ mabye

your bolded statement is 1/2 true, yes maintaing yourself will make you more attractive but you dont NEED to spend $$$$$ to do it

and frankly i couldent care any fvcking less about the subject as a whole

I guess it comes down to how much money you/your family has in the end. I waste money on much dumber things, so I don't mind spending money on that.

Obligatory house pic! Bwaha

Oh how I do so love being spoiled.

money has nothing to do with it, i COULD spend 60$ on a hair cut and 150$ on pants, but i dont BECAUSE ITS A WASTE OF MONEY

its an self esteem issue, you feel the need to spend money onyourself to "improve your image" because you feel it makes you a better person, ie others comment on your image makes you feel good, where someone like me is perfectly content with themselfs and is not troubled by what others think

ok that is a nice house but when you keep showing it off like that i have to wonder...

You have to wonder what?

"why"

After my family nearly went bankrupt about two and a half years ago (after being wealthy for about 15 years) we ended up moving out of a 6,000 square foot house, which was worth well over $1m and had to move into a 2200 square foot house on rent. The new house was not only small, but also ugly and in a bad area. Our landlord was an asshole, and we were just a few thousand dollars away from losing the family business. After 2 years things are finally back up and going well again, and we were able to move into a nice place again.

While I do realize that I post it a bit excessively, I'm pretty happy right now... Once it wears off I'll stop being a pain in the ass.

Well everyone is prideful in what they or their family accomplish, but there is no reason to post about it in an inflammatory way. You could have said your family makes enough to buy you nice things -- and that includes nice jeans or whatnot.

That's the flip-side of the coin. Some people are content with things of lessor value and some are not. Everyone has their vices whether it be nice cars, house, boat, clothes, liquor, watches, jewerly, etc. It doesn't just have to be a luxury item either. Many people have their hobbies that they spend more than the average American on. So I agree with you, money doesn't have anything to do with it. There are tons of Upper class folks that get their haircut at a local chain or even Walmart. Then there are people that are drowning in debt that get 100 dollar haircuts. Happiness is subjective to us all.

When you get your hair cut in a nice place, you get more out of it. You get coffee, or tea, or a coke and whatever the confection of the day is. You get a nice scalp massage when your hair is shampooed and a shoulder rub too. Plus the magazines are much more recent than the ones at Pro-Cuts. 😉

now see you didnt say that before, when you say 60$ haircut one things you pay 60$ to cut your hair and thats it

if you are getting a massage and drink out of it as well then thats no so bad then,

i get my hair cut by a firend that runs a hair cutting place here in town, costs me 10$ to get it cut and shampooed, takes all of 30min, we chat, no need for crappy mags,

Right, but to everyone that is not necessarily better. Same reason why I might spend more on item x than you, but you might spend more on item y. Better is subjective, and using the price as a determination of something's worth is wholly inaccurate. There is some truth to "getting what you pay for" but not
always an absolute truth. I consider the jeans I buy to every bit worth it, but I've had items that I've bought that were not worth the price. I've also had items that were worth more to me than the price I paid.

My hair stylist is a freakin' moron. Her name is Wendi. With an i. That's right, an i. She talks as if she were from Spain, accent and all. But she's from Burleson, TX. That's right, Burleson. She can't pronounce big words, but mangles them trying. She doesn't understand simple concepts. She can't have a discussion about things in People magazine, she's just not bright enough. On top of that, she doesn't really listen to my requests about my hair. She freakin' KILLS my neck when she shampoos my hair. But if I called up to make an appointment one day and said "No, I don't want Wendi anymore," you can darn sure bet that the first person the receptionist tells is gonna be Wendi. And of course Wendi is friends with the other 10 girls who work there. So I'm pretty much screwed as far as that goes.

BTW, there was a reaaaally cute guy applying there when I was there a few days ago. He looked kinda New York hip. Was wearing a beanie, red sneakers, faded jeans. Just so hip and cute. But he was a little too 'real' for that place, where everyone is fake. Hell, in a whole town that's fake.

so you pay 60$ to get your hair cut by a moron? and she beats you up as a bonus, that is just too funny

Well, my hair usually looks pretty good. And I suppose she probably knows more about hair style than me. So maybe her way of doing it is better than the way I want it done.

Correct.
Also, 60 for a haircut is nuts, I just trim my own mohawk or shave it off, ladies like the big hawk

My haircut cost $15 dollars and although I don't play for the other team there is no shortage of men hitting on me (very annoying). You waste your money.

there is nothing wrong with paying a lot of money if it makes you feel good and it is within your budget. Life is about being comfortable and happy as can be. I hate superficial people by the way. but being beautiful, handsome or well groomed has nothing to do with thinking superficially.

See my thread regaurding how fun it is to shoot people down. 😀

I think Mill hit the nail on the head with the "happiness is subjective...some rich ppl buy cheap things and some poor ppl splurge on things like haircuts" deal.
Sometimes i buy $150 jeans, because i'm in the store, i have the money to spend, they look good on me, and they're damn comfy. other times i'll spend 25 bucks on old navy jeans bc all i need is a pair of jeans.
Its different from person to person, and from time to time for the same person.
In short, nothing is every anything, and we are all gonna die.

Think about it this way. Your looks will partly dictate your future wife (for those of us who are not yet married) I consider buying clothes, haircuts, facials, skincare, etc an investment... I'd far rather spend some money on that and cut back on my tech spending to end up with a hottie SO!

Different priorities.

cut back on tech spending? BLASPHEMY!!!

For me the reason I spend so much on jeans (I'm usually at between $150 and $250) is not for the look, but for comfort. You cna get good looking jeans for $100 or so, but comfort is pretty important also.

Tight T, half-zip sweater, semi-faded jeans, and hush puppies > *

wow dude, where is your house? that is beautiful, i would love to live on a body of water some day. so peaceful.

I spend decent money on my clothes, but nothing excessive.

I use the fact that I am goddamn sexy and charming to get hotties 😉

It's not so much that we all do it - we do - but that some people, mostly virginal 12-15 year old males, act as though if Elisha Cuthbert and Jessica Alba invited them to a threesome they'd decline because one's too fat and the other too skinny  Meanwhile if the aforelinked chick asked them on a date they'd cream their shorts while gushily accepting...

urgh "cream their shorts" that vision is utterly disturbing. lol

Yeap, I get coffee and home baked treats at my salon and I'll tell you nothing feels as good as getting a relaxing scalp massage, having someone wash my hair for me is right up there of my list of favorite indulgences🙂

Ok, $250 on jeans is just downright stupid. What dumbass would spend $250 on jeans? I have a few pairs of Diesel jeans that cost around $160 new, that I got on EBAY, read EBAY, for $60 (and no they're not rips). $250... rediculous.
