The beef in the chili at wendy's is the excess burger pieces that came off when they were cooking the burgers.

Utterman is right. My friend used to manage a Wendys and that is what they do.

Best Chilli out there but no where near as good as mine!

When Wendy's came out with Chili the sale of Rolaids rose 200 percent in my area.
Weird.

Wendys and BurgerKing are owned by the same company... the chili should be identical..

(except for the blood, sweat, spit) :D

Just get a simple chili recipe and make up a fairly decent size batch. Eat what you want of it and freeze the rest. You can then store it for months and when you want chili just cut off a section of the frozen chili block.

you poor bastage, if you think wendy's has good chili, then you haven't had chili.

since when is BK owned by same parent as Wendy's? BK's parent is pillsbury, isn't it?

green chili owns red chili!

guyver01 - you're just off the mark a lot today, eh? first the magic CDs, now this... wendy's is wendy's international, it has no parent. and BK is pilsbury which i *think* is owned by grand met but it may have been sold or spun off a while back.

i used to work at Wendy's when i was in high school. (small hick town, working at Wendy's was a decent job) chili was made fresh each morning, and meat was from leftover hamburger patties from day before. all the ingredients were top restaurant quality stuff. i used to love their chili back then, and i still love it now. make sure you request cheese and onions when you order.

Actually I made a big-ole batch a few days ago. Pretty simple ingredients:

ground beef
progresso kidney beans
hunts tomato sauce
hunts whole tomatoes (optional)
onion
green pepper
garlic salt
black pepper
chili powder
hot sauce
served over uncle ben's rice (optional, I think its a Cuban thing, mom was from Cuba)

eating some right now! mmmmmmm:)

Also, it seems to taste better when the chili is reheated

Nothing you buy will be like home made food, but Wendy's chili vaguely resembles home made chili, more so than canned stuff.

For the amount of money you spend on two meals at Wendy's, you can make a gallon of chili and freeze half of it.

That must have been a long time ago, because Wendy's chili comes pre-prepared in huge bags now - frozen.

Instead of 'made fresh' every morning, it is "thawed" every morning.

Try this if you like chili, its a 'universal' chili recipe that will appeal to all chili lovers, not a 'specialty' style.

1lb lean Ground Beef
1 can of diced tomatoes (14oz - 16oz) undrained
1 small can tomato sauce (6oz - 8oz)
2 cans of Chili or Kidney Beans (14oz - 16oz) drained
1 cup onion chopped coarse (two cups if you like onions)
1 cup green peppers chopped coarse <--- highly optional unless you like green peppers
1 and 1/2 can of water using can from tomatoes or beans
1 package of McCormick Chili Seasoning/Mix (or other brand)
1/2 tspn salt
1/2 tspn black pepper
1/2 tspn garlic powder
1/2 Tbspn of chili powder

Brown ground beef along with onions and [optional] green peppers, drain grease or leave it in there. In an appropriate-sized sauce pan, combine tomatoes, beans, water, and spices (salt, pepper, garlic). Cover and bring to a low boil for 2 - 3 minutes. Add meat, tomato sauce, chili seasoning, and chili powder, stir well. Cover and bring back to low boil for 2 - 3 minutes, stirring frequently. Reduce heat, cover partially, simmer for an additional 15 - 20 minutes, stirring occasionally.

Check the consistency. If you like it thinner, add water. If you like it thicker, continue to simmer partially uncovered for an additional 15 minutes, stirring occasionally. Season to taste (add more salt, pepper, garlic, if desired).

Not much to it, but chili always tastes better the next day.
