Oh goodness! My new Athlon isn't showing the proper clock speed! :(

I just purchased a new system with a Gigabyte 7VTXH Motherboard and an Athlon XP 1800+ Processor.

The clock speed only shows it at 1.15ghz! Does anyone know how to fix this?

I apologize a great deal if this has been asked a million times already, but I'm freakin' out. This is my brand new system.. 🙁

Thank you very, very much for anything you guys could offer.

Umm.. colour me idiotic.

I can't find the FSB setting in my BIOS. The closest thing I could find was the "CPU Host Clock" ... is that what I'm looking for?

Again, please excuse my retardation.

Thanks again,
Chris

Err... my BIOS looks exactly like that already. My SDRAM frequency is set at 133, but my cpu clock speed still says 1.15ghz..

Oh, I see -- so it isn't possible through my BIOS as everyone has been saying?

I'm reading the stupid manual, and I've been reading online reviews and they say that you're able to adjust the FSB in 1mhz incraments via the BIOS, but that doesn't seem to be the case.

Crap, I'm stupid. 😛

<< Sigh.

Thanks anyway, everyone.

So you simply refuse to fix the "problem"? Heh.....

I'm like a super-n00b, and I can't tell who is being sarcastic and who is really trying to help me. At the same time, I'm obviously annoying the hell outta most people.

there are a set of dipswitches and jumper right behind the parallel port, this is where you would set the multiplier and fsb (if you do it manually)

otherwise in bios you want to go to the "hardware monitor and misc setup" the first option is the fsb speed

Thank you very much for all your efforts.

I tried setting the first option up to 133, but it won't stick. I page up until I hite 133, but then I can't leave that entry field. If I ESC out of that section and save my BIOS, it doesn't remain perm. :/ I'm really sorry for being such an annoying little pest about this guys.

Okey thanks.. now, VERY last question (I swear).

--- <--- this is ON, so I'm assuming that yanking the little plastic jumper off will be off? Or do I flip it upside down?

(Believe me, I know how pathetic this is. ) 😛
