After 15 years of resistance, I have just become addicted to a rap song. 8-(

frigging DMX.

Is there any hope for me, or am I on the slippery slope? Bound for the land of wasted lives, zero creativity, greed, and loss of all grammatic knowledge?

There's always hope. I've been known to enjoy a Rammstein song every now and then myself.

I don't see how people can like rap. It's all the same, not to mention the singers of it are completely worthless.

Save you from what?
its not like you like the entire genre or something...
you like DMX....good job...he's a great performer...
there are always going to be the crappy guys of a genre (i.e. NELLY - but its only my opinion)
and then you're going to have the better guys (DMX, Nas, etc)
same with every other genre of music...

I don't like rap as a whole, but there are some songs/artists that make some catchy stuff...there's a lot of variety, so at least some of it doesn't suck.

<--Listening to The Carpenters/Sonic Youth - Superstar cuz the big guy on American Idol sang it..
<--Sings in group, has a reason to be doing so. ;)

Much as i like rap, I can understand how people get that impression about it based on MTV/radio crap. I feel the same way about rock...

Rap is not all that bad, people just love to hate. DMX is a poster child though, you'll soon not like his stuff after listening to it for a while.

I'm sure that many people say the same about punk bands, or pop music, or ambient music, or classical, etc. Your statement just further demonstrates your ignorance.

There is a huge variety of rap artists out there, with some genuine talent - my favorite still, even though I'm not a Christian, is John Reuben. DMX is another good one. To typify an entire genre with such a fascinating history is foolish.

i agree w/ zakath...u can't just go around bashing rap music.....a lot of rap songs are very very lyrical and creative....a lot of rappers are very creative and poetic w/ their words....i personally don't listen to rap....i'm more into alternative rock..punk rock......don't listen to those mindless "bling bling" types though...those are teh suck...
