Oh for Pete's sake Nikon, why would you do this to me?

If you think about the fact that ISO is something you will much more commonly be pressing than QUAL, it makes total sense to have it be at the very bottom where it's super easy to find in the dark or without looking. They're correcting mistakes they made in previous layouts. I see that as a good thing.

New D610 !!!! --- Whats up my Nikon brother !

Side note: If you get fed up with the plastic snap-on screen protector, you can find a glass screen protector that adheres on that makes a great substitute.

Last year, I made the switch to M for most of my photography - with the caveat that I use Auto-ISO with it.
However, when I do want full M mode, having the ISO button where it is makes it trivial to find and adjust from AUTO-ISO to Manual ISO.

Actually what's driving me crazy the most is the inversion of the zoom in and zoom out functions during image review. Like Mike, I mostly use M and Auto-ISO so I don't find myself using the ISO hot-button function much. I get what you're saying though.

Yeah, I came upon a screaming deal for it on CraigsList that I couldn't pass up. Loving the full-frame sensor so far. I'd spent the last few months upgrading my lenses so that they're all full-frame capable and I was ready for the jump. The only exception is my Tokina 11-16, but at 16mm it almost fills the entire frame anyway.

That's interesting, I'll remember that. The plastic on my D7000 definitely got scuffed up a bit over the time I've had it, and I had considered replacing it soon. Nice to know there's a glass option.

i don't get the need for a dedicated button for quality. How often do they expect their users to change quality on the fly?!

It can also be used for zooming in while in LCD or view mode so it has it's uses. I use it a lot to check that a picture I took is properly in focus, or to actually focus on an object at night in LCD mode, can zoom in to max to an edge then dial in the focus.
