Oh crap, i think i killed it...

I'm giving my parents my old system and they wanted me to format it first. I went ahead and did that through the win 2000 pro setup process, along with deleting the old linux partitions that i had one there as well. The install went fine, it rebooted and ran fine for a while. I think i may have even rebooted one other time for some reason i forgot. Then i shut it down and took it to its new spot down the hall. When i plugged everything in and hit the power button, that's when the problems started. It didn't bring anything at all up on the monitor. i checked to make sure the video card was still installed tightly. That didn't help. I brought it back in here to use everything it had before. now when i try to start it, i get beeps but still nothing visible. the only thing i can think of is that i shorted something on the carpet in the other room or i think i may have unplugged a few things while it was still shutting down.

any ideas?

I suggest that you don't mention the fact that you unplugged components with the power on. Whether or not that caused the problem, they are going to say it is your fault as soon as they hear that.

that may be a good idea. i may have already said so in an email i sent. I quickly realized that wouldn't get me anywhere fast, so now i'm on hold waiting. go figure..

what kind of beeps did it give you? try reseating the video card and the RAM

I'm not sure which it was but i reseated one of them and it boots now. It must have been the ram but i did that once already. Thanks for the help guys.
