I just printed the forms out of Turbo Tax and put them in the envelope. I totally forgot to sign both returns (Federal + State). I sent it on April 14th. I am supposed to get some money back on both returns.

Start saving your pennies now for the penalty.
Just kidding ...... I'm sure they will send them back to you for signature.
Returns delayed for about a month or so though.

No biggie. They usually just send them back for your signature. No interest or penalties are USUALLY assessed for something like this. BUT, if you have money coming back, it may be delayed until they receive the signed return.

E-filing isn't free (at least the state isn't "included") and I'm not paying for the privilege of filing my taxes. We should receive an incentive for filing electronically since we save the IRS money.

The incentive to e-file is that you usually get your refund in 8-15 days instead of having to wait 6 weeks for the refund.

(but I agree with you...sort of. I refuse to use the self-checkouts at Lowes/Home Depot because they don't give a refund for doing so. Let them pay a cashier if they want my money...or else, give me 5-10% off my total bill.

I usually owe a few bucks so I really have zero incentive to e-file.

While I do agree about self-checkouts, they are useful to avoid idiot cashiers.

If you owe in back to back years isn't that a huge penalty? You should adjust your withholding.

Depending on your income level; you may not have to pay for Federal filing.

Also, many staes have their own free filing directly into them.

By a few dollars I literally mean under $100. I'd say I have my withholding just about perfect.

Agreed on this one. But, at least I'm paying for my own convenience vs. making it easier for the government. I used to do it manually.

I make too much for free filing and I have more than a "basic" return. Same reason I don't qualify for free state filing.

Leave me alone. I like going to the Post Office occasionally:p
