Ha ha, on another note 2 years ago someone was selling a 2nd gen mr2 with a v6 swap done for about 3k in Tulsa, OK, sometimes I really wish I would have gone to look at it.

At what point do you start to be concerned about body flex/use issues? Unibodies are durable no doubt, but at 170k that body/frame has seen a lot of use. Still, at that price...

jlee you're about due for a new project man, do you still have 4 cars in the driveway? You know you want a project..............

The hole is where my roommate's IS goes. I'm kinda out of space.. :(

My MR2's chassis has 258k. I'm not worried. ;)

(cts-v + hitch/trailer) - tacoma = room for project car

I base my unibody concerns primarily around my extended experience with 914s. After 100-150k, imo, the chassis is 'used up' and flexes wayy too much. Granted that's generally with hard use, and a removable roof, but I wonder how much other more modern cars are affected by general wear/tear and flexing on a unibody frame.

Hm, that's a good question. I have no idea.

^ unibody construction is much better now than it was when those 914s were made. I would inject stiffener into the unibody if your worried long term. I considered it on my 300zx but the idea of refitting all the wiring scared me away.

So you're trying to make a Fiero? :D

Joking aside it seems like a 3800 S/C Fiero swap would be a lot easier for roughly the same result, no?

I stopped looking on CL when I don't want to buy things because i'm tempted too often to buy stuff I don't need but want. If I don't see it, I can't buy it.

Except I'd end up with a Fiero instead of an MR2... :p

The Camry V6 bolts to the existing transmission and matches all but one motor mount.

how is the headroom in those things? I sit really tall, and most things with sunroofs are a bad fit for me.

I sit fairly upright - I don't fit very well with a helmet. Without a helmet, it's close but I fit just fine.
