I don't know how hot this is, but it's certainly warm enough that I chose to pick up another for myself -- and seeing as how there was a similar thread not long ago, I thought I'd point this out...

As per the title, Dell.ca has the U2312HM for $189.99 CAD until March 29th.

From what I can gather, the two main gripes against this otherwise excellent 1080p 23" IPS monitor are that it lacks HDMI imput and that it is perhaps too bright.

For my part, I don't mind the brightness except insofar as it makes the 5 year old CCFL-lit ASUS screen sitting next to it look dim in comparison. But given a choice between both, I would rather both monitors look like the Dell, so it's moot to me.

Beyond that -- and even though I've been a DVI-kind-of-guy up to now -- I really don't mind it having no HDMI. In fact I have a failed delivery slip from UPS here informing me that my two new mini-DP->DP cables are awaiting collection at their counter.

I really like the U2312HM already sitting on my desk and I would be hard pressed to think of a better monitor recommendation for anyone looking for a reasonably priced solution with this combination of stand quality (height adjust + pivot), connectivity (I can't wait to hook them up using displayport and put some A->B USB cables to good use with the 4 built-in USB ports), image quality (yeah, colors and viewing angles are very nice) and price.

edit: And of course, if you link to the Dell site through a RedFlagDeals account you can get 2.25% cashback (roughly $5) on the purchase.

Not that it's such a big deal, seeing as how you need to accumulate $25 of cashback before RFD ponies up, but still...

Thanks. Good deal.
Enjoy 1920x1080 (max) HD resolution, a vivid 2,000,000:1 (typical) dynamic contrast ratio and IPS technology for outstanding color consistency across a wide viewing range. Maybe a good thing.
